ASTRID PEREZ
My name is Astrid Perez, I am a 20-something year old junior at California State University, Long Beach. I currently live in the beautiful city and home of the first In-n-Out, Baldwin Park, Calif. On the weekends, you can find me making lattes and frappuccinos at Starbucks. I hope to one day work in public relations working for an influential and successful company such as Starbucks.
MY BIO
My interest in journalism started at an early age. When my father would come home from work, he always had a copy of the Spanish language newspaper La Opinion, I would run to him and grab the newspaper from his hands. Reading La Opinion, allowed me to learn how to read and write proficiently in Spanish and most importantly. In high school, I became interested in entertainment and fashion print journalism through magazines like Seventeen, Tiger Beat, Glamour, People, and Vogue. I first got my start in journalism as a student reporter writing for the Citrus College Clarion, a student publication based in Glendora, Calif. There I got experience covering a range of topics from sports to local community issues. It was at Citrus College where I took my first introductory course to public relations, the idea of building relationships between the public and a company or other client is something that I have been interested in ever since.
